reading results school day program

What does reading results do?

Using data-driven and student-centered methods, our school-based tutoring teams — a mix of retired teachers, parents, caregivers and members of the broader community — provide an effective reading acceleration program to Kindergarten through third grade students.

Tutors and Students

Tutors are carefully matched with students and spend the year working on reading skills face-to-face. In addition to the educational benefits, the Tutor-student relationship sends a strong message to a struggling child: “You are important. Your community cares about you and your future.”

Science of Reading

Our Tutors have been rigorously trained in the Science of Reading since before it was the buzz word. The Science of Reading embraces structured literacy and is proven to be the most effective way to teach reading to students, no matter where they are in their journey.

Rigorous Training

Our Tutors are paid, trained employees. Each Tutor participates in 36+ hours of intensive training on the Science of Reading, cultrally-responsive teaching, and up-to-date pedogogical practices for teaching reading. Training is a mix of online modules, in-person sessions, and school-based practice and coaching.

Prioritizing Community

Reading Results prioritizes hiring Tutors from within their school community. Retired teachers, caregivers, parents, and community members become familiar faces to students. This model increases instructional capacity while providing meaningful career opportunities to caregivers who are traditionally underrepresented in educational systems.
